A. Lee

Description

Sound description: Fogbox Records, a local CSUMB record label, released the eclectic hip-hop and soul laden sounds of Seaside native A. Lee in 2006. In contrast to the violent, sexist and racist lyrics glorified in gangsta rap, Lee focuses on the music behind her rhymes and writes positive and upbeat lyrics, “Want to find a weak rapper/ Won’t have to walk far/ There they are/ On every avenue and boulevard.” A. Lee opened for renowned backpack hip-hoppers Zion I and The Grouch in 2006 at CSUMB.
