Alisa Fineman

Sound description: As a humanitarian folk musician, Alisa Fineman uses her singing/songwriting as a means to delve inside and explore her own Jewish background. Fineman sings in Hebrew, Ladino and English. In addition to being a respected folk singer on the Peninsula, Fineman is also a cantorial soloist at Congregation Beth Israel in Carmel and hosts a radio show on KAZU in Pacific Grove that features singer/songwriters from all over the country. Fineman was named Best Folk singer in the Monterey County Weekly (Coast Weekly) Best Of reader's poll for four-straight years in the early 1990's and in 1991 she won top honors at the Kerrville Folk Festival's NewFolk Showcase for her songs, One Lone Bird and I Could Not Ask For More. She has three recordings: Cup of Kindness (1988); Better With Time (1993); and Closing the Distance: Poems, Prayers and Love Songs.
