Description
Sound description: Around since 1990, local reggae band Jonah and the Whalewatchers led by Jamiacan bassist/vocalist Alex Shirley almost always pack the house at their infrequent shows. The band, which includes classic reggae instruments including steel drum and horns, plays roots and dub reggae. The band beat out longtime winners Red Beans & Rice and took home the award for Best Local Band in the Weekly's 2007 reader polls.
