Sound description: A local supergroup featuring members of Bolivar Vive!, Wasted Noise, Dubwize and Para La Gente, The Simmer Downs play old school ska tailor-made for getting up and moving. The horn heavy band—four horn players!—goes heavy on songs by Jamaican ska outfit The Skatalites but also cover Afrobeat musician Fela Kuti's "Colonial Mentality" and do a cool ska-ed up version of the jazz standard "Summertime."
