A 14-year-old Salinas boy died from gunshot injuries today, two days after he and three other teens were shot inside a car near Hartnell College, Salinas police said.
Ociel Montiel was shot by a gunman who was riding with him in a car on Wednesday. Fifteen-year-old Rodolfo Cristobal was also killed. The two surviving teenagers remain in critical to serious condition, police said.
According to police: About 5:35pm six juvenile boys were driving on Archer Street when they pulled to the curb near University Street and one of the backseat passengers pulled out a handgun and shot the four victims.
The shooting is being investigated as gang related. The slaying marks the city's 24th homicide of the year, one more klling away from tying last year's homicide record of 25.
