More than a hundred people joined Carmel City Councilman Jason Burnett for a Monday morning town meeting at the Sunset Center to discuss the pricey settlement of a long-running sexual harassment and age discrimnation case brought by former Human Resources Director Jane Miller.

Burnett says he wants to examine whether the city has the right sexual harassment and discrimination policies in place, and whether the city followed those policies.

He plans to schedule a formal discussion of those issues at the City Council's September meeting, but some say they want to make their voices heard long before that. The council meets Aug. 3 at 4:30pm, and could get an earful during its public comment period.

Among the concerns: whether Carmel should continue to employ City Administrator Rich Guillen who Miller accused of sexual harassment, the effect of the settlement on city's insurance rates, transparency at city hall, and whether Miller's allegations that some city employees received rapid promotions and generous raises because they responded to Guillen's overtures, have merit.
