The Fiat Yamaha rider and World Championship leader is starting in first position on the grid during Sunday's premier class race.

Jorge Lorenzo battled hard with Marlboro Ducati's Casey Stoner, overtaking his fastest lap in the last few minutes of Saturday's qualifying session.

Behind Stoner was Honda Repsol's Andrea Dovisioso whose start in the front row is the first in his MotoGP career.
