CHANGING PLACES

Only a few little words need to be said about Carmel’s April 13 election.: “It’s time for a change. We CAN do better.” (“Carmel Sea Change,’’ Feb. 11-17). I support Adam Moniz for Mayor and Jason Burnett for council. They WILL do better. --

MARINA’S BIG MOVE

The jury is out (“Marina’s Big Move,” Feb. 18-24) and the City Council of Marina has requested more details. Until there’s factual information about what’s involved, how much it will cost (particularly if Marina is the lead agency), and what are the benefits to the residents of East Campus and Marina, it’s best to wait before anyone draws conclusions or points fingers. Where you shop and send kids to school is not necessarily the defining issue. If that were the case, Marina citizens should have demanded long ago to vote in Seaside and Monterey, where we had to send our kids to school and shop in their stores. Best to wait before we debate until we havemore facts, less rhetoric, and apply common sense. --

CORT’S FAULT?

Under [Dan] Cort/[Jim]Colangelo, Pacific Grove accumalated about $60 million of liability for pensions and salaries for public safety within a short period of time (“Squid Fry,” March 4-10). Would that Mayor [Carmelita] Garcia could reverse the financial blunders so P.G. could provide customary services to its’ residents? To date, she is not to blame for any of the deterioration in the city’s government. --

CARMELITA’S OK

Good evening, you adorable inky thing, I didn’t have a chance to read the Weekly till this evening. Hey! Be nice to our Ms. Mayor Garcia. (“Squid Fry,” March 4-10.) Since becoming mayor that lady is busy, busy, busy, from sun up to sun down and everyone is very pleased with thechanges she has made. I’ll bet she did get back to you but it wasn’t in time to meet your print deadline. --

Laura Emerson | Pacific Grove
