Well, you can't accuse the county of being hasty.
This afternoon, Oct. 26, the Monterey County supervisors finally approved a general plan update that has been through five haggled-over drafts over the course of more than a decade.
GPU5, as it's known, creates a blueprint for the next 20 years of rural land use and development. The supes approved it unanimously after making some last-minute tweaks to address concerns raised by land use watchdogs in Carmel Valley.
