Street Talk 04.28.11 (asked @ Mi Pueblo in Seaside.
)

What is the most misguided Latino stereotype?

Follow-up: What Latino holiday should be celebrated more?

ALEX CANO | Mi Pueblo Store Director | Greenfield

A: That we all just eat tacos and rice and beans. Or that we’re dirty and unorganized.

Guad Squad: Dia del Virgin Guadalupe, a very big day on Dec. 12. We get together at 4am and we have a little mass and we display Virgin Guadalupe with candles.

KYM CHA | Student | Marina

A: Maybe people think they don’t know English or they’re straight from Mexico when they might have been here for a while.

All Hail: Cesar Chavez Day needs to be bigger in the U.S.

ROBERT JONES | Photographer | Salinas

A: That they all look alike. When you come to a place like Mi Pueblo, they always speak to you in Spanish.

Nada: None. They have Cinco de Mayo. No Hispanic has done much historically for the U.S. yet, so I don’t think they deserve one.
