To keep the beer flowing, nine tanks are brewing at any given time at English Ales. The smooth and rich Fat Lip amber ale sells out one of these tanks, or 310 gallons, each week so it’s always brewing. As for everything else, it’s up to the locals’ thirst for beer. Brewmaster Tom Hodges brews six hours a day to keep his traditional, balanced flavors coming. For him, if this local Best Of is the only medal his beer wins (though that’s unlikely), that clicks with his understanding of what’s important: “Really good beer, and keeping the locals happy.”
