Street Talk 11.08.12 (asked @ PetSmart in Sand City.)

What’s the strangest Pet accident you’ve heard of?

Follow-up: Which of your pet’s qualities do you wish you had?

MARIE VAUGHN | Retired | Monterey

A: I have a toy poodle that ate a fingertip toothbrush; $1,400 and 15 staples later, we were able to take her home.

Mini Magnet: Everybody loving me like they do her.

JARED RODGERS | Veterinarian | Carmel

A: We had a small dog with excessive salivating. We took an X-ray and saw two tracheas. The owner was giving the dog whole beef windpipes as a chew toy.

Honest Truth: Dogs are brave, kind, honest, and, unlike humans, free of malice.

RAQUEL BAALBAKI | Dog Trainer | Monterey

A: My [King Charles spaniel] likes to eat toilet paper. She’ll paw at the roll, and then take it into her bed. She tries to hide that she’s eating it, but you can see it trailing from the roll to her bed.

Keep It Rolling: Unconditional love.
