World Beat: Local taiko drumming collective Shinso Mugen Daiko will open the First Night Monterey festivities on Pacific Street. “You hear those drums and they’re calling you,” says FNM Executive Director Ellen Martin. “They’re so magnificent and beautiful, and the sound travels. It’s a wonderful way to introduce the multicultural art and performances.”
