The SPCA for Monterey County is looking for answers after coming across six abandoned Australian Shepherd mix puppies at a plastics recycling plant in Royal Oaks Wednesday.

The puppies were found in pretty rough shape. Suffering from worms, fleas, dehydration and hunger—it was lucky humane officers found them so soon after they were abandoned. The SPCA has already named the puppies with a little help from our friends on Sesame Street. The four males and two females are called Grover, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Zoe and Lily.

Officials are offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for abandoning the puppies. If you have any information contact the SPCA at 831-373-2631.
