E. Michael Whittington to Step Down as Director of the Monterey Museum of Art

It was announced today that E. Michael Whittington is stepping down as Director of the Monterey Museum of Art after seven years on the job. He came into the position from the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, with expertise in pre-Columbian, African, ancient and 20th art, and leaves adding a deep and broad knowledge of Monterey and California painting to that arsenal.

The announcement, which is published on the museum's website, praises Whittington's tenure at the helm of the museum and goes on to say that the Board of Trustees will "begin a search immediately for his replacement."
