Restaurant 1833 Earns First Area S.F. Chronicle Review for Local Restaurant in Years

The food blog I logged Feb. 17 earned more views than any other in 2011. The reasons for that include flaming cocktails, big talent and Restaurant 1833 co-owner David Bernahl's inhuman amount of Facebook peeps he likely linked to the piece.

Another reason it blew up: people love to love, love to hate and, at the very least, love to speculate about Restaurant 1833.

I've heard a few entertaining facts and an assortment of awesome rumors of late that I consequently bounced off co-owner Rob Weakley at the tail end of last year to gauge his reaction (more on that soon). One thing that he told me then that is undeniable as of today: That San Francisco Chronicle tastemaker Michael Bauer was going to do complete a full review of the spot within the coming weeks.

The headline isn't winning any awards for its poetry, but "Great setting, food at 1833" is certainly music to Coastal Luxury Management team's ears. Bauer dings them on service hiccups but finds enchantment in Levi Mezick's crispy egg, among other items.
