I'm not sure about much in life.
In fact, I can list what I am sure about now:
Gary Pisoni is awesome.
Haikus are awesome.
Beer is awesome.
Couple accompanying notes: (1) Awesome is oft overused, but in this case, not so much. (2) One thing I'm not so sure about, but still relatively confident...the Best Beer Haiku of the Century appears below:
Give me a beer, pops.
Give me barley, water, hops.
Suds with buds is tops.
Don't agree? Prove me wrong. Best haiku on beer wins two VIP tickets to the June 9 Monterey Beer Festival, land of 80 breweries pouring hundreds of beers—from tiny obscure craft ales to big-bodied, big market porters—in the sunshine with food trucks and live tribute bands and guest host Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas, who heads to the Hall of Fame next year. Poetry averse folks can jump over to the Monterey Beer Festival website to grab a ticket before they evaporate.
Punch your haiku into the comments below or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here's one from Seaside's George Peterson, beer afficionado and professional scuba diver, to help get the poetry flowing. My Best of the Century title may be in trouble already:
Better than cold beer?
I do not know that which is
Better than cold beer.
