Lelia Broussard played two Monterey House Concerts in 2010 hosted by Sierra Dehmler (see the Weekly’s cover story). Over the past year, a lot has happened for the folk singer.
On March 16, Broussard made the next cut in Rolling Stone’s unsigned artists competition. She's now one of eight still in the running to appear on RS’s August cover. You can vote for the Los Angeles-based musician HERE. Her celestial, rootsy take on Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" is tasty but so are her originals like "Satellite" (below).
“I don't want to just be a pretty girl with a guitar,” Broussard told Rolling Stone. Well, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter’s appeal definitely extends beyond her long lashes and porcelain skin: She started turning heads at 15, while playing the New York City folk-club circuit. Does Broussard have what it takes to grace the same magazine cover that the likes of Gaga, Spears and Madonna have also graced? You get to be the judge
