Ever since the late rapper Tupac Shakur took the stage on Sunday night at the monster Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Calif., social media outlets have been buzzing more than Paris Hilton on a Friday night.
The evening show lineup was set to include Dr. Dre and Snoop but the audience of an estimated 100,000 watched in awe as the legendary Shakur—who was murdered back in 1996—appeared on stage like some kind of glowing demigod with a six-pack. The appearance turned out to be a very pricey hologram effect (MTV News reports somewhere between $100,000 and $400,000) concocted by Hollywood special effects studio Digital Domain.
The whole display was even more surreal because Tupac shouted "What up, Coachella!" and the festival's inaugural year came three years after he was killed.
According to CNN, there are many conspiracy theorists out there that believe Tupac faked his own death. I guess his magical performance in the desert last night will fuel their theories a bit more. Check out the video below and decide for yourself.
