If there's anyone who can use the word "retarded" eloquently, it's Steve Earle. The singer-songwriter/author/political advocate/blue collar philosopher will visit Big Sur's Henry Miller Library October 3 for a solo acoustic performance (ticket go on sale Aug. 11 at noon)

Earle's I'll Get the Word Out, released April 2011, is no longer available to stream in its entirety on NPR but there's live footage below of his NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert performance, which is even better.
