The remains of a local woman reported missing more than 28 years ago have been recovered by the Monterey Police Department from a wooded area near Del Monte Shopping Center after being discovered Aug. 18.
Jennifer Lynn Morris was last seen shopping at Del Monte Center and her vehicle was found nearby, but authorities were unable to locate the woman at that time. Morris’ parents, now deceased, filed the report on Jan. 25, 1983 and pleaded for information on the whereabouts of their daughter on a local television station.
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division and Crime Laboratory along with an anthropologist from Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office believe Morris was a victim of a homicide based on evidence found at the scene. Identification of the body was confirmed by a California Department of Justice forensic expert.
