In the water board election pitting political newcomer Brenda Lewis against well-connected old-timer Tom Mancini, the newbie has won by a landslide.
Lewis trounced Mancini, 65 percent to 35 percent, according to the semi-final report posted Tuesday night around 8:30pm. She will replace Alvin Edwards, who was elected to the Seaside City Council last November, on the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District board.
