Four Monterey County men were arrested this morning in a child pornography sweep led by San Jose Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The raids began at 7am with 62 officers from 16 agencies, including Salinas, Marina and Seaside police; Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Salinas Police Commander of Investigations Terry Gerhardstein says the warrants served focused on peer-to-peer transfer—the sharing of files over the Internet—of child pornography.
San Jose Police Officer Jose Garcia says those arrested include Marina resident Joshua Horton, 22; Hector Martinez, 24, of Salinas; Trevor Faye, 21, of Salinas and Allen Constant, 31, of Seaside. The first two are being held on $15,000 bail each.
At least one of the warrants was served on a house on the 900 block of California Street in the quiet Maple Park neighborhood of Salinas.
Seaside Police Cmdr. Judy Stradan says ICAC contacted her department about three weeks ago to inform local officials of its investigation and bring them on board.
“The task force has a lot of technology that a lot of local agencies don’t have," Stradan says. "If it wasn’t for their specialized people, [the criminals] wouldn’t get caught.”
