Dole Salads Recalled

Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling nearly 800 cases of bagged lettuce due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to announcement released Saturday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The salad mix, called Seven Lettuces, has a use-by date of April 11 and was distributed in 15 states (Californians are off the hook; this load was shipped to the East coast and Midwest).

No illnesses have been reported in association with this recall, which was issued after New York state officials detected Salmonella in a random sample.

The affected lettuce was grown in Florida and processed in North Carolina. Dole's California harvest season will start in the next few weeks.
