Cal Am has awarded the Monterey County Business Council a $5,000 grant for its Rainwater Catchment and Graywater Recycling Outreach program.
The idea is to get educational materials out to more than 15,000 county residents about rainwater and graywater recycling, which can save water and lower household bills. The grant will also help build up the directory of local product and service providers for water recycling systems.
"Education and public outreach are critical to transition our residents from ground water dependency to environmentally responsible sources of fresh water," said Mary Ann Leffel, President of the Monterey County Business Council, in a press release. "It is imperative that we translate our educational materials into Spanish, given that more than 55 percent of our population in Monterey County is Hispanic/Latino."
