Salinas City Council reached a $110,000 settlement on Tuesday with a teenage girl who alleged she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by a former adviser in the Salinas Police Department’s Explorer Program.
The girl, who was 13 at the time of the alleged assaults, participated in the after-school program, and is identified only as M.R. in city papers.
The lawsuit came after Callan was convicted on two counts of statutory rape with a separate victim. Following the conviction, she sued the city, and settled for $200,000.
The city of Salinas does not admit guilt in either settlement agreement.
The Explorer program, supported by the Boys Scouts and the Salinas Police Activities League, is still in operation.
