Woman Accused of Battery, Biting Cop At Cage Fight

The fights are supposed to stay in the cage.

Police say 22-year-old Tina Perez assaulted a stranger and later bit a police officer at an amateur mixed martial arts event in Salinas Saturday night.

Perez, for reasons unknown, allegedly caused injury to a man's face, then acted belligerent and uncooperative when police arrived, according to a statement from the Salinas Police Department.

As she was being taken into custody Perez bit an officer’s hand and kicked him, the statement says.

The statement says the woman “exhibited obvious signs of intoxication.”

When police arrived at Sherwood Hall private security guards were chasing several people, who officers discovered were trying to detain the suspect, the statement says.

Perez was booked at the Monterey County Jail on police charges of battery, battery on police, and public intoxication.
