A 55-year-old woman is dead after her car hit a utility truck on Highway 68 near York Road just after 9am on Thursday morning.

Monterey resident Karyn Stevens was driving her Subaru Forrester westbound and crossed the center divide into eastbound traffic. She was thrown from the car after it an AT&T truck, which caused Steven’s car to overturn on the shoulder and slammed head on into a Chrysler. She was pronounced dead at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.

All three drivers were traveling alone. The woman driving the Chrysler was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, while the man driving the truck was taken to Natividad. Both are expected to survive.
