Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner won his fifth grand prix of the 2011 season beating out Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo in the final laps of the race. Stoner's teammate Dani Pedrosa took third during the sunny Sunday race. All three riders on the podium had won previously at Laguna Seca.

Lorenzo, who started from the top spot on Sunday's grid, had been quick all weekend, leading the time sheets most of the weekend, even after suffering a rough high-side crash on turn five during the final lap of practice on Saturday morning.
Stoner, the current leader of the world championship, has only been off the podium once this season, but Lorenzo is only 20 points back from the lead as the riders head to Brno for the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
